RH Guesthouse App
RH Guesthouse is a new hospitality concept for discerning travelers seeking the ultimate in privacy, luxury and comfort. I was asked to lead the design efforts for the in-room app.
The in-room app aggregates the physical controls of the lighting, climate, window shades, and in-room experience into a singular digital hub.
With a collaborative cross-functional team, roles and responsibilities have been clear and concise.
We did a competitive analysis of in-suite apps in other luxury hotels, focusing on content, widgets, and in-room dining. We also researched connected home platforms for more widely used experiences.
In the beginning of the project, it hadn’t been determined which features would be available in the rooms. So we focused on a high level structure and made some assumptions.
When starting to design, I like to put as many ideas as I can down on paper. From there, I can iterate, refine and pressure test ideas.
After multiple iterations, I prototyped 3 versions for the initial presentation – one with a dashboard approach, a springboard approach, and a springboard with a bottom nav.
V1 - DASHBOARD
V2 - SPRINGBOARD
V3 - SPRINGBOARD + BOTTOM NAV
The team decided to go with the dashboard approach. For the phase 1, the features are paired down to a minimal viable product.
